PEERS® for Young Adults
PEERS® (The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) is world-renowned for providing evidence-based social skills treatment to preschoolers, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, and other socio-emotional problems.
PEERS Relational Skills Program Moose Jaw Inc. (PEERS MJ) is pleased to offer the 16-week PEERS for Young Adults for the ages of 18 - 35 years.

Participants are selected by intake interview to determine their interest in the PEERS program.

Participants are to bring a support person from their life to act as a Social Coach.

Social Coaches are typically an adult family member, caregiver or mentor.

Social Coaches attend the program at the same time as the Participants; in a separate room where they learn the same strategies as the Participant.

The Social Coach provides feedback to the Participant to help them find success as they practice the social skills strategies they are taught.

The PEERS facilitator teaches the PEERS program to the Participants and oversees the full program; the Social Coach facilitator teaches the program to the Social Coaches.

Volunteers act as Behaviour Coaches to assist with practicing, role-playing and general support for the Participants and Social Coaches during the session.

A full PEERS program is comprised of a PEERS Facilitator, a Social Coach Facilitator, 3-5 Behaviour Coaches, 8-10 Participants and 8-10 Social Coaches

PEERS meets weekly in the evening for 90 minute sessions for 16 weeks

Participants are expected to participate and perform Homework Assignments based on the skills they are learning.

Participants build and expand their understanding of the skills that they learn as they progress through the program

Sessions begin with a Homework Review and Skills Review before proceeding to the next topic.

Participants experience the program from various perspectives as they discuss the perspectives of other Participants.

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for attending the PEERS program.
